Wood County H1N1 forums, flu shot clinic

Attend a public question-and-answer session, then get a flu shot on Oct. 8

A flu clinic is being planned for citizens of Wood County. 13abc is the event's media sponsor.

The Wood County health department and Wood County Hospital will hold a seasonal flu clinic on October 8, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Wood County Fair Grounds Junior Fair Building.

Wood County residents can get seasonal (not H1N1) flu vaccines and information about the H1N1 virus. Cost of the vaccines will be $20 for adults and $10 for children under 3 years of age.

Physicians from Wood County Hospital will be on-hand to answer questions. Dr. Kenneth Power, will discuss the impact of influenza on senior citizens from10 to 11 a.m. From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Dr. Ian Leggat and Dr. Stephanie Noceti-Dunphy will discuss the impact of influenza on pregnant women and children.

The Health Dept. is also hosting a community forum to answer questions from concerned citizens about H1N1 influenza (formerly known as the swine flu).

A presentation by health personnel will start the meeting and then questions will be taken from attendees. All forums are 7-9 p.m.
