Fatal cases may include recovery and relapse
Many of you have questions about when you'll have the chance to get the vaccine and if Lucas County has enough doses for everyone.
Lucas County health commissioner Dr. David Grossman was here at 13abc answering some of those questions this morning.
The Lucas County health department has received a second shipment of the flu mist and within the next few days, they anticpate the H1N1 shot vaccine will be here, giving health providers around the county the chance to offer it to priority patients.
Those priorities remain pregant women, followed by those who have an infant under 6 months in age, students and the 18-to-24-year-old group.
The county anticpates most people will be getting the shot vaccine. The health department alone has ordered more than 100,000 doses.
Oregon schools will be the first to host a clinic to vaccinate students, but it's still a few weeks away.
Dr. Grossman says he anticipates plans to immunize as many people as possible will really take off here next week.
But for now, if you are a parent and your child has flu-like symptoms, there's a 98 percent chance they have H1N1.
Grossman is stressing parents need to be in tune with the symptoms of the virus. In cases where children have died from H1N1, they tended to recover and then relapse.
You can catch a full interview with Dr. Grossman on Roundtable this Sunday at noon.
