Local family on 'Wife Swap'

Wednesday, January 17, 2007

You may have seen the show "Wife Swap" earlier this week on ABC. One of the families, the Johnsons, was from Upper Sandusky.

They swapped with a family from Michigan, a family, as the show goes, that's fairly opposite. Melissa Johnson, 33, got the call from 'Wife Swap' after becoming Miss Natural Northern USA.. Husband Scott said, "I didn't believe it because she gets a lot of emails from strange people." But when a camera crew showed up, the Johnsons knew it was for real.

Soon after, the swap was on. Cameras captured private moments of their lives for two weeks. The first week, the wives live by house rules. The second week, they set the rules of the house. The Johnsons, big into sports, had to miss the Ohio State-University of Michigan border battle. Their new matriarch wouldn't allow it. That hit home and so did the rest of the swap, which appeared to make both families appreciate what they have.

The Johnsons did get paid to do the show. And with the money, the kids are going to OSU football camp.
