Sentencing was finalized and the victim's family spoke to the court.

Robert Jobe was sentenced to 18 years to life today for the murder of Det. Keith Dressel. He is eligible for parole after serving the initial 18 years. He was convicted November 9 for the February 21 murder.

In court, Jobe said, "I would like to give my deepest concern to the family and my apology." Jobe received credit for 283 days behind bars. He has the opportunity for parole after 18 years.

Dressel's widow, Danielle, spoke briefly at the sentencing, saying her son asks every day why Robert Jobe killed his dad. Keith Dressel's mother also spoke, saying that a big part of her family was taken from her.

Detective Dressel left behind a young wife and two small children. This hearing was essentially a formality in terms of the sentence. But it was an opportunity for both sides to talk about the impact of the shooting on their lives.

Jobe's attorney Ann Baronas spoke first. She said that since day one, Jobe has said he was sorry for what happened. And Jobe later made his own statement apologizing to the Dressel family.

Detective Dressel's widow Danielle spoke in tears to the court along with Dressel's mother Larraine. They spoke about their loss. Danielle said, "Everyday I have to answer to my 4-year-old son. Questions such as when I was dropping him off and I was coming to court, he wanted to know why I was talking to the court and why Robert Jobe killed his dad, and I have to answer that question every single day."

Detective Dressel's mother Larraine also had words for Robert Jobe this afternoon. She addressed the court about the night her son was killed and talked about her observations of Jobe during the trial.

She says her son was well liked and respected, but Robert Jobe didn't think before pulling the trigger. Larranie says since then, Jobe has shown no remorse for what he has done to her family and this community. Dressel's mother says her son only wanted to help Jobe that night, but Jobe never gave the detective a chance.
