Have you heard of Twitter? It's estimated six million people use the micro-blogging service.

The Twitter craze is now hitting Toledo with new companies and people signing up every day to connect online in a new way. Nathan Steinmetz of the Toledo Mud Hens says they just started a page a few weeks ago.

Twitter is the next big thing on the internet. Twitter asks the question: What are you doing? You have to answer in 140 characters or less.

Growing numbers of Toledoans are hopping on Twitter to get the message out about T-Town. Steinmetz told us, "What's great is when we have breaking news, for example, a pitcher is coming down from the Tigers on rehab, this is a great way to do it. Post it on our Twitter page, and fans who subscribe to our feed can see that right away."

Holly Pilbeam is a self-described Twitter addict. She likes the quick ease of communications, whether it's between friends, family members or companies. Pilbeam used the power of Twitter to get better customer service. "My phone company and our satellite provider, I was having big problems. Just wasn't getting through to customer service departments. Managed to hook up with a Twitter account for both of them. Got the problem solved within 24 hours."

Hart Associates are helping clients see the benefits of Twitter. Hart's Damien Rintelmann says, "Brands now have an opportunity to listen to their consumers in a new way that they've never had before."

On the job hunt? There are a number of companies that are using it to post their jobs. So if you're searching, it's a great way to do that."

During the inauguration, Toledo Tweeters shared observations about the historic day. During a snow storm, Tweets were flying about road conditions.
