A hit-and-run driver sends a teenager to the hospital. The person behind the wheel is still on the streets. It happened in northern Hancock County south of McComb on Pleasant Township 97.

Becky Gorrell was riding her bike alongside her grandkids, Clay and Abi Moyer. They were heading east on Pleasant Township 97 around 7:00 Monday morning when Clay got clipped.

The 14-year-old from Arcadia says he looked up to see a pick-up truck, possibly a Chevy S-10, driving away without its side view mirror; that was on the ground nearby.

Clay wound up with five stitches in his left hand. He and his grandmother are both cut and bruised. The driver is still on the streets. Hancock county sheriff's deputies say the truck took off.

Officers are on the lookout for the driver. As for Clay, he says this run-in won't keep him off his bike.

We're told the driver could be looking at anything from a first degree misdemeanor for fleeing a scene to a felony for vehicular assault.
