"Gallop of the Brides"

A wedding event that gives a whole new meaning to "Here Comes the Bride".

This weekend there's a wedding event that gives a whole new meaning to "here comes the bride". Hundreds of dresses are ready. Come Sunday, Memories Banquet Hall in Temperance will be full of excited brides all searching for the perfect dress.

An Affair to Remember Bridal Show is hosting the "Gallop of the Brides", which is similar to Filene's famous "Running of the Brides". It's a chance to buy a wedding dress and take it home all in the same day without breaking the bank. Memories Banquet Hall owner Mary Danielak says, "There are weddings that are being cancelled because they can't be afforded, so we wanted to create something special."

Event planners are seeing brides scaling back on spending. Whether you're looking for something simple, intricate beading or a ball gown, it's couture on the cheap. Yvonne Gallippo, owner of Gallippo's Bridal, says, "Three years ago most of my brides wanted to spend around $5,000. Now they come in and want to spend around $1000."

Just because you're on a budget doesn't mean you have to skip out on your dream dress. All of these gowns are up to 80-percent off. But be ready to bargain shop. Here's your checklist: wear a tube top, bring your girlfriends to help with the big decision, and come makeup free to keep the gowns clean. And don't forget your running shoes!

The Gallop of the Brides is Sunday, October 11 from noon to 4:00 at Memories banquet hall. That's located on the corner of Sterns and Lewis in Temperance, Michigan. $3 gets you in to the dress sale and the bridal fair.
