An 8 year old girl is being treated at the Toledo Children's Hospital.
One of the victims of a vicious dog attack in Wood County is talking about the terrifying experience. The dog attacked the woman and her two young daughters in North Baltimore. One of the girls is still being treated at Toledo Children's Hospital.
Sue Agner's daughter and two granddaughters had been attacked by a dog. Alexis Rock, 8, is hospitalized, but her mother says it could have been a lot worse. Stephanie Rock says, "We got lucky. The surgeon said if the wound had been a hair deeper it would have been a lot more serious. We definitely had a guardian angle looking out for all of us."
Stephanie first spotted the stray dog in her North Baltimore yard Thursday morning. She says she called the dog warden several times to come get the dog and she didn't realize the dog was still there when her two daughters Alexis and Casey were in the yard after school. That's when she heard one girl screaming. She says, "I ran over and kicked the dog in the head. He let go of Casey. He then tried to attack me. I jumped on the dog to keep him from going anywhere."
Casey suffered superficial wounds and Stephanie was bitten on the legs, stomach, and on the ankle. The family's Rottweiler Brutus even helped fight off the other dog. "Brutus is the one who got the stray off. He bit him in the face several times, got a hold of Casey," says Stephanie.
Stephanie's husband finally shot the dog. "He had my sweatshirt in his mouth. Shot him in the hip and he let go of me," says Stephanie.
The dog's body is being tested for rabies. The dog warden's office says if they find an owner, they will be facing charges.
