Students at Starr and Jerusalem elementaries, and Fasset middle school started their day off with the H1N1 shot vaccine.

School H1N1 vaccinations are now underway in the Toledo area. Students at Starr and Jerusalem elementaries, along with Fasset middle school started their day off with the H1N1 shot vaccine. The Oregon school district is the guinea pig in the health department's grand plan to vaccinate all of the students in Lucas County.

Jennifer Christman's second grade daughter Alyssa got the shot this morning at Starr Elementary. Each student was required to bring back a consent form signed by their parents. While some opted out of the school clinic, for Christman the plan eased her concerns.

With one day and three schools down, despite some crying from the little ones, administrators are calling the clinics a success.

Within two weeks, the quick prick will protect students, teachers and the community against the virus. And according to the district nurse, the biggest complaint is a sore arm.

Tomorrow students at Wynn and Coy elementary, Eisenhower middle school and the Learning Center will be immunized. Clay high school's clinic is scheduled for November 4.
