Overnight accidents, Mackinac Bridge

Toledo police are looking for the driver of a minivan that slammed into another car overnight, then left the scene. Police say a minivan headed north on Parkwood ran a stop sign at Arcadia, hitting the car on its side, and spinning it around. Three people in the car were taken to Mercy St. Vincent medical center with non-life threatening injuries.

The Ohio state highway patrol is investigating an accident that sent two teens to the hospital last night around 7:30 in Ottawa County. Troopers say Alisha Laferty, 16, of Port Clinton was traveling on county road 17 when she ran off the road, eventually losing control and flipping several times. She was transported to Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton. Her passenger, Brenna Weaver, 15, also of Port CLinton, was life-flighted to Mercy St. Vincent medical center. No word on their conditions at this time.

The Mackinac Bridge is turning 52 and in honor of its birthday, travelers don't have to pay a toll to get across it. This Sunday, travelers who cross the 5-mile stretch will go across for free. Normally, it's $3 per car. In addition to a free toll, booth operators will hand out free travel first aid kits. Three Mackinac businesses are picking up the tab from Sunday's tolls.

An armed robber didn't get a thing from a Washington Quiznos employee because the employee thought his gun was fake. The employee is seen on surveillance video sweeping up when the robber comes in armed with a pistol and demands cash. The employee listens for a while and then goes back to sweeping. The would-be robber is then seen walking out the front door. No word on if authorities caught that robber.
