Court news, a man fell asleep at the wheel on I-75 north causing him to hit both sides of the road
Two people face a judge this morning after a hit-and-run incident in Perrysburg Township that injured one person. Police there say a fight started at the Perrysburg Estates trailer park on Lime City Road Sunday morning. A short time later the fight escalated into that victim being dragged and then struck by a vehicle. Dominic Dilucia, 18, faces a felonious assault charge. Gauge Lee, 18, was also arrested and charged. Both are in the Wood County jail.
We now know the names of the victims killed in a mobile home fire in Putnam County Friday night. The Columbus Grove police department says firefighters arrived to an engulfed unit on North Main Street. Two people inside that mobile home didn't make it out alive. Investigators indentified the victims as 24-year-old Barbara Krontz and 64-year-old Diane Sherman. The state fire marshal's office is still looking into what started the fire.
A blast near Pakistan's capital killed at least 30 people and has injured dozens of others. Officials say the explosion happened close to the Pakistani army's main headquarters. Police say the explosives may have been planted in a car in a parking lot.
A man fell asleep at the wheel on I-75 north, causing him to hit both sides of the road. The accident happened after 2:00 a.m. near the Willys Parkway exit. The man says when he woke up, he hit the left side of the road and overcorrected before hitting the right side. No injuries were reported.
Seattle police are looking into a shooting that killed a veteran officer and left a trainee injured Halloween night. They say someone opened fire on the officer's cruiser while it was parked. Investigators say they have a few leads in the case.
The trial for a man at the center of a hostage standoff at a Toledo retirement community is scheduled to begin today. Police say 46-year-old Michael Swiergosz hit his estranged wife Barbara with a crowbar and then took her hostage for several hours back in April.
The body of a missing four-year-old California boy has been found in the clothes dryer of a neighbor's home. Authorities say a 14-year-old boy from that house is now in police custody. A Fresno County sheriff spokesman says the boy's parents reported him missing Friday afternoon and the body was discovered Saturday.
The healthcare overhaul bills in Congress are taking aim at tax-free spending accounts. Those are the accounts people use to help pay for dental work, insurance co-payments and over-the-counter drugs. A coalition is now trying to stop the enforcement of a savings cap or at least allow it to adjust with inflation.
Twenty-five people are missing after a boat sank of the Australian coast. Rescue officials say 15 people have been rescued so far. No word on what caused the boat to sink.
Today President Barack Obama plans to meet with his Economic Recovery Advisory Board. They'll discuss long-term ideas to sustain growth and create jobs. Obama will also meet with the National Economic Council later today. In between those two sessions the president will welcome Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt to the White House. A fire destroyed a 100-year-old building: the B and J Cafe on Temcuseh. Halloween partiers spent the evening there, but around 7:00 Sunday morning a fire broke out. Investigators are looking for a cause but the building is a total loss.
Speeding may have played a role in a fatal crash in Monroe County over the weekend. The Monroe County sheriff's office says 20-year-old Kyle Stefko of Monroe was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control and ended up in a ditch in Raisinville Township. Stefko was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
