Big Shots bar shooter identified, body found in Monroe Co., House health care vote...

With his health care reform plans on the line, President Obama rallied democrats on Capitol Hill. The president is calling this "a big moment" in history. The house debate is underway on a 10-year, $1.2 trillion health care overhaul bill that would extend insurance to tens of millions of Americans and enact dramatic changes to the country's medical system. The house is expected to vote on the bill at some point tonight.

Police have identified a man accused of shooting at a crowd of people at a bar on Central and Albon as Alvin Tate. Michael Lawson was shot in the leg during the chaos. He is believed to be an innocent bystander. Authorities say the bar has had so many past problems that overnight they parked nearby just in case. That's when they witnessed three men, including Alvin Tate, come out of the bar and begin to argue. Tate went to his car and came back with a gun. A large crowd had gathered outside. Tate allegedly fired several rounds at the crowd. Up to three others fired back. After police arrived on the scene seconds later, Tate attempted to flee and was shot by police. He remains in critical condition at this hour.

The body of a teen was found at Ash Park in Monroe County. Police responded to a report of a body being dropped off in the park. Upon arrival they found the body of 16-year-old Joshua Miracle. Following a brief investigation, two subjects were detained and taken in for questioning. They are being held at the Monroe County jail tonight. Investigators say there were no signs of trauma on the teen's body. If anyone has any information, you're urged to call the Monroe County sheriff's office.

Toledo firefighters are looking into what caused a home to go up in flames overnight on Francis Avenue. Fire crews say the house has been vacant for about two weeks so no one was inside when the fire broke out. However, neighbors were evacuated as the fire became extremely intense.

Next Wednesday is Veterans Day, and The Andersons is making sure hundreds of flags are properly retired. It's called Operation Respect. Andersons stores are collecting and properly disposing of faded, torn and damaged U.S. flags. Soldiers, boy scouts, and girl scouts are overseeing the flag collection this weekend, which will continue through November 12th.

They're breaking the cycle of poverty with chili and soup for the soul. Tomorrow is 4th annual Women Blessing Women "Chili For Change." All of the proceeds goes toward the mission of empowering women to obtain living wage jobs and stop poverty. Participants will be able to taste several different chilis and soups and decided which one is the best. The cost is $6 per person, and the event it will be from noon to 4 at Saint Ursula Academy on Indian Road.

If you were looking for a good deal on a new vehicle, the Toledo police impound lot was the place to be today. Nearly 80 cars, trucks and motorcycles were on the auction block as TPD held its 4th abandoned and forfeited vehicle auction. All vehicles are sold as is.
