Late night police standoff on Tremainsville Rd, a local church is hosting an early Thanksgiving feast,
A man had a standoff with police after 11:00 last night on the 2800 block of Tremainsville Road. Police say the man was very upset and depressed. No word on if the man had any weapons. Police had to block off part of Tremainsville. Thankfully, the standoff ended peacefully. Police say the man was taken to Mercy St. Charles. There were no injuries reported. No word yet on any charges.
A Kentucky census worker found hanging from a tree earlier this year with the word FED scrawled across his chest committed suicide. Authorities now say Bill Sparkman committed suicide and staged the scene to make it look like a homicide. Investigators say the man believed he had cancer and had two life insurance policies that do not pay out for suicides.
A senior military official says President Barack Obama's planned troop deployment doesn't have a specific exit plan. But deployments could be slowed or stopped if necessary. The president is expected to reveal the plan next week.
A local church is hosting an early Thanksgiving feast. The Ebenezer Outreach Ministry is hosting its annual Need to Feed Thanksgiving dinner from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Ashland Avenue. The dinners are free and the public is welcome to attend.
If you plan on heading to the post office today, check to make sure it's open. Some post offices will be closed or have shortened hours today. Post office officials say there is regular mail delivery today and November 27th will not be affected. Post offices will be closed tomorrow and there will be no regular mail delivery except for express mail.
Friends, family and supporters are remembering Stefanie Spielman. Speilman died last week of breast cancer. Yesterday hundreds of people attended her funeral in Columbus. The 42-year-old wife of Ohio State and NFL football star Chris Spielman inspired many with her long and public battle against the disease. The Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research has raised $6.5 million so far.
A group of central Ohio lawmakers wants to beef up cities' rights against four casinos that voters authorized in November. The state senators want to place a constitutional amendment on the May ballot that would allow cities to opt out of hosting a casino by passing a local referendum.
A wildfire in southern California is threatening nearby homes and Santa Ana winds aren't helping. The fire started last night in the hills above Anaheim, California. Firefighters say they're making good progress. No evacuations have been ordered at this time.
A robbery suspect in southern California was caught on surveillance tape stealing a nun's purse. San Fernando police say two nuns were putting groceries in their car earlier this month when a man approached and asked where his sister could get food for her children. As they talked, the man grabbed the purse from the shopping cart. The suspect then fled in a minivan. Police employees later chipped in to replace the stolen purse.
For months Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm's been dealing with the auto industry crisis and the failing economy. But this week it's babysitting. The governor signed legislation yesterday that exempts babysitting from day care regulations and licensing. This all stems from the state ordering a woman to stop watching her friend's children before school.
Space shuttle Atlantis and its seven astronauts have left the international space station. The shuttle undocked early this morning, ending a one-week visit. Atlantis is now aiming for a Friday morning landing back at NASA's Florida spaceport.
